Crystal Valley Chihuahuas is a small breeding program located in New York, owned by Lauren Hassett. Lauren has been involved with and training dogs for close to 15 years now.  She started with Border Collies and Belgian Malinois. Lauren has competed in a variety of sports from flyball, dock dogs, disc, IGP and is still currently training and competing with her Malinois, Chewy.  Click here to view photos & learn more about Chewy & Lauren's time competing in IGP.

Although sports and competition have always been her passion, she fell in love with the Chihuahua.  She never considered herself a small dog person and quite frankly until the day she rescued two Chihuahuas she thought the breed was horrible, yappy little dogs who bite everyone. One of the rescue’s named Bella ended up being pregnant so instead of a quick foster, Bella and her four puppies changed Lauren’s mind completely on the breed.  Having met so many poorly bred Chihuahuas, and finding less and less breeders that health test (which was a complete shock to her coming from the sports world) she set off on a journey to breed more healthy, friendly and environmentally stable Chihuahuas.

Each litter born at Crystal Valley Chihuahuas comes from OFA and Embark Tested parents and are raised on Laurens version of Puppy Culture. It's important we show our puppies little pieces of the puzzle and get them ready to take on the world with little to no fear.

 

Today Lauren has started entering in AKC conformation with her dogs and has been showing her first home bred Chihuahua, Crystal Valley's Isabella.
